Overview:
 Ericsson UDN, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ericsson, located in Cambridge, MA, is looking for a full time Senior Technical Writer. The candidate will work with developers, operations, and other teams in a global agile environment to capture and communicate product, process, and procedural information to both external and internal audiences. The successful writer is comfortable working across teams and departments in an engineering-centric culture and is passionate about providing information that helps people get their work done. They are not constrained by strict job definitions or others’ expectations of what a technical writer is and can do. They have a healthy sense of humor and exhibit grace under pressure.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of technical writing experience in software-based systems
  • College degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with user-centered writing for computing platforms
  • FrameMaker EXPERT–with significant experience in the use of conditional text and variables and mapping to publish to multiple outputs
  • Skilled at prioritizing, problem-solving, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven record of managing complex documentation projects through the complete software development lifecycle
  • Ability to successfully juggle multiple documentation projects for multiple releases
 
Additional Expertise Desirable:
  • RoboHelp / FrameMaker integration or Madcap Flare or other single-sourcing documentation process
  • Atlassian tool suite, especially JIRA and Confluence
  • Creating technical drawings/graphics
  • Documenting REST APIs
  • Creating a hierarchy for design and architectural wiki content
  • Working with developers to document product architecture
  • Knowledge of content distribution networks and cloud/edge computing
 
Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with globally distributed engineering and product management subject matter experts to plan projects, anticipate documentation needs, solve problems, and communicate progress.
  • Write clear, concise product and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with multiple project stakeholders to fully develop content.
  • Attend development and process meetings and track development tasks.
  • Review requirements and design specifications to identify and scope documentation tasks and provide feedback.
  • Independently plan and write usable, engaging, focused documentation for a variety of internal and external audiences with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and test procedures on test and production systems to create task-based documentation.
  • Master new products, components, and features quickly and efficiently.
  • Form strong relationships with other teams to identify areas of collaboration and facilitate the flow of information.
  • Solicit constructive feedback, build consensus, and work to generate a shared understanding of and solution for the issue at hand.
  • Work with a sense of urgency.
  • Manage and meet moving and, on occasion, converging deadlines.
  • Identify and address challenges before they disrupt work or deliverables.
  • Write from an in-depth understanding of the product and the environment in which it is used.
  • Independently identify and communicate documentation tasks throughout agile sprint cycles using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Help develop documentation methodologies, processes, productivity aids, and standards for team use.
