DC Infrastructure Engineer
 
We are looking for a Datacenter Infrastructure Engineer to join our Chicago team to help us support and operate the Ericsson UDN backbone and its datacenters. What would you be working on? Operating the physical infrastructure of our global network. This is a unique opportunity to help us shape the support of our global network. Join us working in a startup environment. Below are some of the responsibilities:
 
Responsibilities
  • Work with an awesome team
  • Manage remote operations of 22+ datacenter infrastructure locations
  • Work with 3rd party to identify any physical datacenter issues and resolve promptly
  • Work with network deployment and network engineering teams assisting with remote POP work
  • Manage onsite physical infrastructure of a local lab environment
  • Coordinate datacenter maintenances and communicate with relevant teams  
  • Track capacity and inventory
  • Identify and troubleshoot simple hardware failures on x86-based servers and networking devices to include the replacement of failed hardware components
  • Provision cross connects, hardware RMAs
  • Creating and reviewing documentation for processes and best practices
  • Understand overall ticket management process
 
Qualifications
  • Prior hands on datacenter experience in DC operations roles
  • Understanding of colocation, datacenter and physical infrastructure
  • Experience operating with major global colocation vendors
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn, teach, and share knowledge
  • Prior experience in troubleshooting/fault isolation, teamwork, and multitasking
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with building, repairing or upgrading hardware components
