Senior Security Engineer

Overview:
 
We are looking to hire a core engineering team member to help keep our cloud management platform and applications running on it secure. We automate all of our deployment and system management and the successful candidate would have considerable experience developing with SaltStack, Ansible, Chef and the like as well as in Python; would have worked in global environments with high uptime requirements; would bring deep experience with complex networks; and would have experience in cloud and private cloud platforms.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Be part of building security into our global cloud platforms and applications
  • Build tools to protect, detect, and remediate vulnerabilities in a global network
  • Deal with a variety of threat vectors and classes of malicious actors
  • Help prioritize tasks based on a balanced view of risk and best practices
  • Provide on-call support along with Operations and other members of the development team during security escalations
  • Adopt tools judiciously and recommend best practices for managing our systems.
  • Understand how to manage systems built on micro-service architectures in an elastic, cloud environment.
  • Research new technologies, including hands-on technical evaluation and POCs.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
 
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
  • Deep experience in a Linux environment, including system administration and hardening
  • Understanding of and experience working with complex network topologies
  • Experience working in an environment where systems are cloud-based, elastically scaled, managed through automation, and designed to deal with failure.
  • Experience with OpenStack, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Programming experience in at least the Unix shell and Python
  • Ability to work across teams to understand how systems function as well as the real-world operations and management use cases related to running these systems
  • Technical proficiency of DevOps requirements and tools.
  • Evidence of innovation and thought leadership in past engagements and/or in open source communities, blogs, open source projects, etc.
  • Experience managing cloud platforms and content delivery networks.
  • Experience with PKI, and secrets management across distributed systems
  • Experience with LDAP, including user management and authorization (PAM etc)
  • 8+ years of experience in developing, architecting, deploying highly scalable distributed computer systems
  • Experience working in teams and managing to tasks in an Agile environment
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or relevant industry experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
